So I'm still in India. Hard to believe it's only Wednesday. Time seems to move so much slower here. It's strange because there is so much to do and see we are constantly busy, but it feels like the minutes are twice as long here.
I've started my volunteer placement as of yesterday. I'm working with a business that outsources handicrafts made by girls who have been brought out of brothels. (If you want to check out their website, here is the link: www.madebysurvivors.com) So there are about 9 young girls here and they spend the day sewing and making jewelry. We do pretty much whatever needs to be done- which includes everything from helping set up furniture to checking the bags the girls have made to helping with new projects. (Today I tried to make sample Christmas ornaments- my stitching was so poor that Tina covered it up when she decorated it....) The girls are all very sweet, but they don't speak any English so I am trying to work on my Bengali so I can talk to them. We are here pretty much all day- we leave at 9:30 and don't get home until after 6. We do get weekends off, and hopefully we can do some sightseeing and travelling then.
I know this is short, but the pictures will have to make up for it!
