The food court at the mall here in India does not accept cash. You have to load a card with money, pay for your food with the card, and then get a refund for the rest of the money.
Do not try to smuggle outside food into the theatre. While it may work in the US, in India they actually check your bags before you go in. (also to remove camera batteries...) They're onto us...
Any character, in any movie, who complains of a headache WILL be dead of cancer by the end of the film.
The street numbers do not, in fact, go in order. Rather, they label one side of the street- the entire street, before moving to the opposite side. Which is why # 5 AJC Bose Rd is directly across the street from #233 AJC Bose Rd.
Cab drivers, while they drive around the city for a living, are not infallible and do not always know where they are going.
Indians, while they may have been around for thousands of years, are not very good at explaining all that history. The Calcutta Museum did not shed any light at all on the Indian struggle for independence. Neither did the Police Museum. And the Netaji Chandra Bose house, while interesting, didn't help much either. And you may not, under any circumstances, stand in the middle of the aisles in the museum lest you be reprimanded by the tour guide. You must remove your shoes before entering any temple, and most of the sights in India worth taking pictures of have prohibited photography.
Always take an umbrella. There is a reason they call it monsoon season.
